Feb 28, Chitwan: UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has sought apology to the victims of notorious Badarmude accident occurred during the insurgency period.
A total of 39 including three Nepal Army personnel had died in an ambush planted by the former rebel CPN (Maoist) at Badarmude in Kalyanpur VDC of Madi, Chitwan. Over six dozen people were injured in the incident.
Dahal who reached the site for the first time in nine years of the incident also announced a relief package of Rs 6 million seeking apology from the victims on Thursday.
The UCPN (Maoist) Chairman reached the Madi valley to inaugurate a weeklong Madi Festival. On the occasion, he urged all to devote themselves for building a prosperous Nepal by taking the Badarmude incident as a ‘wartime accident’. He also said he had issued a statement talking to political leadership by pledging to take action against to those involved in the incident as the accident was against the party’s policy and planning.
Dahal who turned very emotional during his speech said that he was committed not to visit Badarmude before providing any relief package to the victims, adding that the present relief package was prepared by holding talks with different government bodies this time before his arrival. Rss
